Blueberry Margarita Recipe
July 24th is National Tequila Day and ya girl right here is excited. I’ve already shared my classic margarita on the blog but in honor of the glorious holiday, I thought I’d not only share it again but add a fun twist.
Here in Maine we are in peak blueberry season. What better way to embrace our state’s most precious berry than to pulverize them with agave and serve them on the rocks with salt? I can’t think of a single better way to pay homage to our best cash crop. Can you?
If you’ve made my classic margarita and my watermelon-mint mojito or the grapefruit mint julep, you already have all the skills you need to master this beauty!
Ingredients (serves 1):
Recipe adapted from Food and Wine
¼ cup fresh Maine blueberries
2 oz. of silver tequila
3/4 oz of agave*(or simple syrup)
3/4 oz of fresh squeezed lime juice
Lime wedge for garnish
Blueberries for garnish
Coarse Salt
Ice
Method:
Using a lime wedge, wet the edge of a glass and rim with salt. Fill glass with ice. Set aside.
In a cocktail shaker or a mason jar* with a lid*, muddle fresh blueberries.
Add tequila, agave, and lime juice to the cocktail shaker.
Shake vigorously!
Strain the mixture into the salted glass.
Garnish with a lime and blueberries. Enjoy!
