Caramel Apple Cider Slushie
Summer will not quit. I’m not mad at it but I had been planning on making a warm apple cider drink but it’s just too darn hot out for warm drinks! So, Thomas had the brilliant idea to throw the cider drink I was working on into the blender with ice. And it was perfect.
This drink is super easy, refreshing, and a just a little decadent. The perfect bookend to summer.
Ingredients
2/3 c fresh apple cider
3 oz black rum
1 cup ice
2 tbsp caramel ** plus more for garnish
Optional:
ground cinnamon
cinnamon-sugar
whipped cream
cinnamon stick
** I made homemade caramel. Don’t be like me. Buy yours at the store in the ice cream aisle. I made mine from scratch. Three times. Once because I burnt it. The second time to test the recipe. And a third time for the final production. It was kind of a pain and really not worth it. It didn’t come out that much better than store bought. Save yourself the hassle.
Methods
Prepare a serving glass by rimming in caramel and dipping in cinnamon sugar. Set aside.
In the cup of your Magic Bullet*, pour rum over ice.
Add apple cider
Add in the caramel.
Blend until smooth.
Pour the slushie into your prepared glass.
Top with whipped cream! Lots and lots of whipped cream!
Shake on a little cinnamon!
Marvel in its beauty and then enjoy!
