The weather is finally warming up here in Maine and that always means adventures for me! Spring and summer are the perfect time to hit the road and explore the beauty of the Pine Tree State. Whether you live in Maine or half-way across the globe, I encourage you to kindle your wanderlust by hopping in a car and driving off into to the unknown.

Well, let’s not be dramatic. I have Google maps and one human plus 2 four-legged co-pilots but you get the idea. Thomas and I love to just get up on a Sunday, pick a destination, and head off with little planning and no schedule.

Our adventures have lead us to places like Darmariscoota, Popham Beach, Acadia, and Bangor! We love taking advantage of all that our state has to offer.

There are only two things we do consider when we take off for a day of adventuring! 1. Bathrooms stops - because your girl has small bladder. 2. Snacks - because your girl gets real hangry, real fast.

Road trip snacks are a must! The art of packing the perfect road trip bag is something I take great pride in. Here’s my favorite travel friendly snacks.

Something Healthy

I like to start with something healthy. Bananas and apples are perfect on the go fruits. I like carrot sticks for their crunch! Speak of crunch…

Something Crunchy

I’m pretty obsessed with plantain chips. Sure, they’re really no healthier than a potato or tortilla chip but I like that these Barnana Pink Himalayan Salt Plantain Chips* are as clean as a chip gets and grain free.

Trail mix is a road trip classic. I demand that mine has some kind of chocolate in it. I love these portion controlled bags from Trader Joe’s. These Just a Handful Almond, Cashew, and Dark Chocolate* baggies are perfect for travel.

Something Sweet

I love Larabars*! They’re so handy and just sweet enough to satisfy a chocolate craving!

Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups* are absolutely to die for. Peanut butter and chocolate. Enough said!

Dried Mango* is basically like a all-natural fruit roll up! If you aren’t into chocolate, this might be the sweet snack for you!

Something to Sip

I have a serious thing for a seltzer water. I especially love these Seltzer’ades* from Polar!

And I never go anywhere with out regular old water in a resuable bottle, like this Sip by Swell*!

What do you bring on road trips?
