Ursa Major Base Layer Deodorant Review
Going aluminum-free is a real journey. If you haven’t already, you should head over to this post, where I talk about the decision to switch to all-natural deodorants. It’s been an adventure to say the least.
A few months ago I received this Ursa Major No B.S Natural Deodorant (now known as their Base Layer Deodorant), for free at indoor cycling event. I was excited because I had never heard of the brand and I was excited to explore something new.
Base Layer is an unscented, baking soda-free, cruelty-free product. Ursa Major claims that Base Layer will eliminate odor-causing bacteria, 18-hour wear time, non-staining formula, and a silky smooth texture.
Base Layer is truly the smoothest natural deodorant formula I’ve tried to date. Unlike most formulas, it does not require that you warm the product up against your skin before applying. I love that it’s free of major irritants, like fragrance, dye, and baking soda. And I can back up their claim that it does not stain or transfer to clothing.
Unfortunately, this formula does not last long on me nor does it provide any odor protection. While I don’t expect completely dry pits when using an aluminum-free formula, I feel that other formula’s I’ve tried provide more wetness protection than this one. For this deodorant to work for me, I needed to re-apply it multiple times a day and that just wasn’t working for me. For the $18 price tag, I didn’t want to work so hard to a make this deodorant work.
Although this stuff didn’t work for me as a deodorant, it is awesome for preventing chub rub. So, that’s how I’ll be using this product up.
